Flowers, flowers, flowers!
As I take my morning walks with my dogs, I see flowers everywhere!
I am fortunate to live in a place where flowers bloom all year around. So they are an obvious subject to sketch and include in my paintings.
But even if you are an artist living in a totally different environment, I bet you have sketched or painted flowers once or twice.
I am Cristi, co founder of Cristi Fer Art Studio and Workshops. I am a Rumanian artist living in Mexico. Painter, architect and retreat facilitator.
Welcome to sketching expressive flowers and welcome back to all the artists who took one of my other workshops.
The flowers we will sketch today are Blue Trumpet Vine. I choose this flower for its beauty and simplicity.
I am an expressionist artist so in all my forms of artistic expression, from sketching to painting, my goal is to capture my personal experience with the subject!
So what is expressive sketching and drawing?
It is a sketch that preserves the process of discovery of the subject, with curvy line, and contour drawing. It is loose and flowing!
I designed this class for beginner artists but illustrators, watercolor and painters of all levels of experience will find it helpful.
In this class I will share with you tips and techniques I use every day, insights into a working artist perspective.
I will guide you step by step, from learning how to identify the basic shapes and contour drawing of the flowers, to implementing it all into a loose and flowing sketch.
