Seven audio book series by Brandon Sanderson:
Elantris
Elantris is a stand-alone fantasy novel written by American author Brandon Sanderson. It was first published in April 2005 by Tor Books and is significant as Sanderson’s first widely released book.
Elantris used to be a place of magic, and the Elantrians were gods in the eyes of people, able to heal people with a mere wave of the hand. But after a cataclysmic event, known as the “Reod”, the inhabitants of the city became “cursed” and the city was sealed off from society. Anyone affected by the “Shaod”, the random turning of a person into an Elantrian, is thrown into the city, to stay there for all eternity. Elantris has also been licensed for localized release in Russia, France, Germany, Thailand, Poland, Netherlands, Brazil and at least five other markets. The book gained generally positive reviews.
Legion
Legion tells the story of Stephen Leeds, better known as ‘Legion’, a man whose unique mental condition allows him to generate multitude of personae. He is a brilliant problem solver, rich and quite good at what he does, helped by his hallucinations. However, he would rather be left alone, and that means no researchers or psychologists who want to get to the bottom of his abilities.
But then Legion receives a letter with a mysterious, impossible picture, and he can’t resist traveling the world to search for answers. He must track down a missing inventor who disappeared with a camera that can take pictures of the past. Helped by Monica, who is also searching for the inventor, he travels to Jerusalem to solve the problem.
Mistborn
This series primarily takes place in a region called the Final Empire on a world called Scadrial. One thousand years before the story begins, the ruler of the Final Empire, the Lord Ruler, gained access to a divine power at what is called the “Well of Ascension” where he is rumored to have defeated the unknown enemy called the “Deepness”. With this power, he remade the world and everything in it into its state at the beginning of the first book. In the Final Empire, a Dominance is a territory within the Lord Ruler’s empire.
Reckoners
The Reckoners is a young adult fantasy series with three books in the series: Steelheart (published September 2013), Firefight (published Jan 2015), and Calamity (published February 16, 2016). The series depicts a post-apocalyptic world in which the appearance of an orbiting object has given random people superhuman powers in apparent defiance of known physical laws, turning them into “Epics”. These powers have impelled most of them to prey upon or enslave the rest of humanity, causing the collapse of traditional governments. One young man orphaned by a High Epic joins an elite underground resistance movement.
Rithmatist
In the world of the Rithmatist, which is an alternate version of our own, some people, selected as children and trained, are capable of magic that involves using chalk to draw shapes which can be used to defend against or fight two-dimensional figures known as Chalklings. Rithmatists can also create Chalklings. Rithmatists are the main defense humanity has against the Wild Chalklings and the Tower, a mysterious threat centred in Nebrask, which threaten all of the United Isles, the alternate world’s version of the United States of America.
Stormlight
The backstory of this series revolves around an epic recurring disaster known as the Desolation where monstrous Voidbringers ravage the world and human life hangs in the balance. To counter the threat, the Knights Radiant (so named for their glowing aura and eyes) possess magical armor and swords known as Shardplate and Shardblades as well as fantastic magical powers. The last Desolation was believed to be the final one, and has become a time of myths and legends, in particular as the Knights Radiant left behind their weapons and armor and disappeared into obscurity. In reality, the Knights Radiant could no longer bear the great burden and lied. Their discarded armor and swords remain as some of the most priceless heirlooms that are worth an entire kingdom’s ransom to possess. Only two books have been published so far.
Warbreaker
Warbreaker is a stand alone novel and tells the story of two Idrian princesses, Vivenna and Siri. Vivenna was contracted through treaty to marry the God King of rival nation Hallandren. Instead, Siri is sent to meet the treaty.
Vivenna follows to Hallandren in hopes of saving Siri from her fate. Upon arriving in Hallandren, Vivenna meets up with Lemex, one of her father’s spies in the city, but he has taken ill and dies shortly thereafter-though not before bequeathing his BioChromatic Breath to her.
Vivenna then joins up with Denth and Tonk Fah, mercenaries that were under Lemex’s employ, and together they begin making guerilla attacks against Hallandren’s supply depots and convoys that will hopefully give the Idrians an advantage in the seemingly inevitable war.
