Introduction to 5G Signaling
What you’ll learn
5G NR Layer 2 Air interface between UE and gNB
5G Layer 2 Channels – RRC Signaling
Layer 2 Structure Of Sublayer
5G Protocol Layers
CP &UP Traffic with 5GC Traffic
Requirements
Yes, The participant should have knowledge about 5G Overview and Air Interface.
Description
In this course, we will discuss the 5G Signaling, which provides a comprehensive overview of 5G specific signaling and protocols. The L3 protocols are then discussed one by one in detail in a logical scenario-based sequence. After this the L2 radio interface protocol functionality is described, focusing on scheduling and reliability issues (ARQ and HARQ). An overview of the signaling and HARQ aspects of L1 is also included to give the student a complete view of the 5G protocol stack. We will discuss the following topics :Non Access Stratum (NAS) and Access Stratum (AS) Signaling between the 5G UE, the 5G Core network and and 5G RAN respectively. The concept of User Plane (UP) and Control Plane (CP) Protocols: Since in 5G we are introducing a concept of Control User Plane Separation (CUPS) so we will see that does it bring any changes in the protocol stack. The role of Radio Link Control (RLC), Radio Resource Control (RRC), Packet Data Convergence Protocol (PDCP) & a new protocol specifically introduced for 5G new radio which is Service data adaptation protocol (SDAP)Understanding the UE states in 5G and the difference it has with the existing LTE UE states gives a better view of how things have changed or modified.
