Description
This course teaches the Bunkai of the Wansu Kata of the Isshinryu Karate system. There are many ways to use this kata, and this course focuses on a few of these methods.Isshinryu is a karate style that is simple yet powerful. Due to its simplicity, it is appropriate for students of all ages and abilities that are looking to learn self-defense. Prior to starting this course, it is recommended to have knowledge of how to perform the 15 basic techniques and kicks as well as the Seisan, Seiuchin, Naihanchi and Wansu katas. These prerequisites are taught in previous courses. After learning to perform the kata, it is now important to know how to apply it. This is known as Bunkai. This course is broken down into 5 video lessons which thoroughly demonstrate and explain step by step how to apply the movements in a self-defense situation. Structure, posture, foot work, body mechanics, and common misconceptions are covered in this course. There is a culminating quiz that helps the learner reflect on the previous content. Correct and incorrect answer choices will have feedback as well as a reference to the video in which the Bunkai section was taught. If you are interested in learning other Isshinryu katas or bunkai please check out my other courses in the Dissect the Dissection Series. I am always looking to communicate with my students through Udemy to help them in their journey through the Isshinryu Karate System. I hope you find this course insightful, entertaining and it makes you want to learn more.
