Description
The primary objective of this course is to gain fluency in fractions. In other words, you’ll learn how to read, write, and speak fractions.Yes, fractions are a part of daily life, but they are also a part of the arithmetic curriculum in school. Usually, 1st – 7th graders are on this tract. However, I’ve found that students tend to struggle with fractions until 8th grade (Pre-Algebra). I have designed this course for students who struggle with fractions and want a deeper understanding of the concepts before proceeding to higher-level math. Furthermore, this course focuses on adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing fractions, emphasizing learning conceptually (with deep understanding) and not just learning the algorithm (step-by-step procedure) or memory techniques. This course also includes real-world example problems you may encounter along your math journey. Before enrolling in this course, please be able to add and subtract whole numbers, know your multiplication facts, multiply multi-digit numbers, and divide real numbers. If any questions, comments, or concerns are related to anything taught in the course, please let them be made known. I wish you nothing but success on your math journey, and hopefully, this course will drive out any fear you may have of fractions.
