Description
Learn to take pleasure in the sculpting process masterfully. This course shows step-by-step instructions on how to sculpt a human head. Learn while you follow along and transform a lump of clay into a realistic-looking portrait. Creativity is possible with guidance. The five instruction videos include 1) A List of materials, set-up, and building an armature. 2) Apply clay to the armature. 3) Sculpt silhouette profile and establish correct proportions. 4) Creating basic geometric forms. 5) Finishing details and creating facial features with personality. The sculpture process starts from general to specifics, creating simple shapes and slowly refining them into more complex shapes. First, shape a cylinder of clay around the armature. Next, block out the skull, use small globs of clay, and attach them to the clay cylinder making a sphere shape. Work your way around the form in ‘layers’; don’t focus on one part for too long. Each part informs the whole and they need to evolve together. Mark the placement of the eye sockets, nose, mouth, and chin. Make the profile have the contours of the face’s silhouette. Next create basic geometric shapes like spheres, rectangles, and triangles to form the facial features. For example, the forehead is a rectangle and the nose is a triangle shape. Finally, capture a life-like personality with expression, and unique and specific portraiture features. This course is for anyone who wants to explore the process of sculpting. There is no previous experience necessary. Pace your process, and be patient to guarantee success and enjoyment! I am a classically trained master sculptor, you can trust that these lessons are based on correct principles and practices.
